Mia Has Been Sighted!

Today, there was a whole section on American girl on the TV show, Oprah. My mom let me watch it and the audience actually got to see Mia, the American girl of 2008! Mia is a figure skater growing up in upstate New York. She’s grown up facing her three brothers in ice hockey in the pond behind her house. Mia’s message that American Girl’s trying to get across is to follow your dreams and to never give up. As Sylvie has mentioned, there are going to be two books about Mia; Mia and Bravo, Mia! There is a book summary for each of them below.

Mia

Mia St. Clair is a ten-year-old girl living in upstate New York. She has grown up playing ice hockey wit her three older brothers on the pond behind their house. Mia’s got the skills and the scrappiness it takes to be a star hockey player, but she’s tired of skating in her brothers’ shadows and has decided to follow her heart and pursue figure skating instead. Does she have what it takes to grow and compete as a figure skaters? When a new coach arrives, Mia finds herself gently pushed by the coach at the same time that she’s pulled by her brothers. Can she stay true to her heart and follow her own path? Can she hold her own in a world of competitive skating?

Bravo, Mia!

Mia St. Clair can’t wait for Regionals. Or can she? Mia has been training all year to master the moves she needs to compete at the Regional Figure Skating Competition. It’s her first time competing at that level, and Mia is eager for and worried about Regionals all at the same time. Is she a good enough skater? Does she have what it takes to survive in the world of competitive figure skating–and still be a good sport? When a family crisis threatens Mia’s chances of going to Regionals, Mia is heartbroken. But she knows that being a good sport means accepting challenges–even big losses–with determination and grace.

Any of these books sound good to you? They’ll be available in January!

Julie and Ivy: Their Outfits

Aren’t Julie’s outfits pretty? Let’s thank Millie’s Doll Closet. . Above, she is in her nice pink pajamas. I wish I had pajamas like that. I wonder if her family was rich to afford all these nice clothes, and that beautiful bed. Below, is a picture of Julie in her gaucho and embroidered jacket. That outfit is probably my favorite, but you never know, Julie’s going to have more outfits coming out, so I could like one of those outfits.

Here, it looks like Julie is dressed in her Meet outfit. And it looks like Ivy could be too.

In this picture, Julie is dressed in her Christmas velvet jumper. Ivy is dressed in her red New Year’s dress. I think they both look superb in those outfits! Don’t you?

There are more outfits for Julie and Ivy soon to come! So, stay tuned!

The All New Julie

Here we have some pictures from Doll Diaries of Julie, they really get behind the scenes.

Julie’s looks aren’t what we thought they would be. She has much longer hair and, to me, looks much prettier. I wasn’t expecting her to be sporty, but it’s great that she has some sport in her genes.
American Girl Julie with her dogs

In this picture, Julie has 2 very cute dogs at her side! Don’t you agree?

American Girl Ivy

This is a picture of Julie’s friend, Ivy. Ivy has the same face mold as Jess. Don’t you see the resemblance?

I think this Julie is much prettier (And cooler) than the other one. Don’t you think?

Julie, The New American Girl Doll

Julie, The New American Girl now has her own book out! It’s so exciting! I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m going to get this book right away! Here’s the excerpt from the American Girl website:

Julie Albright doesn’t want to move away from her San Francisco neighborhood near Chinatown, even if her new apartment is just a few miles away. Moving means leaving her best friend, Ivy, and her pet rabbit, Nutmeg. Worst of all, it means leaving Dad, now that her parents are divorced. Julie tries to make the best of it by joining the school’s basketball team, but the coach won’t allow girls to play. She learns that it’s up to her to make positive changes in her new school—and her new life. The “Looking Back” section discusses the women’s movement, divorce, and other issues of the turbulent 1970s.

Happy reading! I know a lot of you will be getting the doll!

Julie Albright

julie-1.jpg

Julie Albright and Ivy Ling are best friends. They live in the 1970’s in San Francisco, California. When Julie’s family has to move, she has to leave behind Ivy Ling, and her pet rabbit, Nutmeg. Worst of all, she has to leave her dad, now that her parents are divorced. Her home is only a few miles away from where she used to live. Julie’s mom owns her own store, and is working full time. America is trying to change to the metric system and girls can now play on sports teams! Julie is supposed to be introduced next month in September!
